Wing Foiling

Wing Foiling is a new sport, really taking off in 2020.

Although Hydrofoils have been in use for quite some time and hand held wings have come and gone in various forms it has been the combination of the two that has found a magic formula that has taken the world by storm.

The wings themselves are quite basic and very easy and safe to use with no chance of being overpowered (unlike kite surfing). Riding a foil is less easy but the good news is that there is a very quick progression which starts with using the Wing in combination with a stand up paddle board (SUP) much like a windsurfer. Most beginners will get the hang of using the wing in a few hours and will be riding around quite comfortably on the SUP during their first lesson. The next step takes a bit more practice to develop the balance and muscle memory to control (essentially fly) the foil underwater but once up the feeling is absolutely incredible. As soon as the foil starts flying the feeling and noise of the surface chop is replaced by silence and the silky smooth sensation of gliding above the water as if on a magic carpet ride.
